Issue Lifecycle

Issue Lifecycle - Classic UI article

An essential part of issue tracking is classifying issues by their status. MantisHub has the following default statuses:

  • New
  • Feedback
  • Acknowledged
  • Confirmed
  • Assigned
  • Resolved
  • Closed

Each status can be in one of three stages:

  • Open = New, Feedback, Acknowledged, Confirmed, & Assigned
  • Resolved
  • Closed

What does each status mean?

  • New - This is the landing status for new issues.
  • Feedback - This status shows that the issue is pending feedback from the reporter. When using the Helpdesk Plugin, the issue will automatically move from Feedback to the Assigned status when the reporter responds via email.
  • Acknowledged - The development team can use this status to show their agreement with the suggested feature request or a bug that has not yet been replicated.
  • Confirmed - The development team can use this status to show that they have successfully reproduced the issue if it is a bug or that they are ready to move forward with the issue if it is a feature request.
  • Assigned - This status shows that the issue is assigned to a team member and is actively being worked on.
  • Resolved - This status shows the issue is resolved but not yet closed. Depending on your workflow, this could be used prior to deployment, testing, etc. You can Resolve an issue with one of the following default resolutions:
    • Fixed
    • Unable to Reproduce
    • Not Fixable
    • Duplicate
    • No Change Required
    • Suspended
    • Won't Fix
  • Closed - This status shows the issue is completely closed, and no further actions are required. Depending on your workflow, this could be used to reflect the reporter's sign-off or the fact that the fix has been released to customers.

By default, statuses that are Resolved or Closed are not shown on the 'Issues' view.
